Oklahoma
Specialty Insurance

Oklahoma is a state full of things that do not fit on a homeowners or auto policy — boats on Grand Lake, campers headed for Beavers Bend, four-wheelers on family land, bikes on the Talimena. Harvey Insurance writes the coverage those actually require.

The Gap Most Oklahoma Owners Do Not Know About

A homeowners policy will pay something toward a stolen fishing boat, and it is almost never enough. Standard forms cap watercraft at a token amount, exclude anything above a modest horsepower, and provide no liability at all once the trailer leaves the driveway. Auto policies are stricter still: a motorcycle, an ATV, or a motorhome is simply not a covered vehicle. That leaves a whole category of Oklahoma property — often worth more than the family car — effectively uninsured for the losses most likely to happen to it. Specialty policies exist because the risk profile is genuinely different: seasonal use, trailering, storage months, on-water and off-road liability, and replacement values that do not track a standard depreciation schedule.

What’s Covered

Specialty Coverage We Write in Oklahoma

Five categories, each on a policy form built for how the thing is actually used.

Boat & Watercraft
Hull, motor, trailer, and on-water liability for bass boats, pontoons, ski boats, and personal watercraft across Oklahoma’s lakes.
RV & Motorhome
Class A, B, and C motorhomes plus travel trailers and fifth wheels, with the full-timer and vacation-liability options a house on wheels needs.
ATV, UTV & Off-Road
Side-by-sides and four-wheelers covered on trails and public land, not just on the property where they are parked.
Motorcycle
Road, cruiser, touring, and dual-sport bikes with the accessory and custom-parts coverage a standard auto form will not extend.
Classic & Collector Cars
Agreed-value policies that pay the number you and the carrier settled on, rather than a depreciated book figure.
Across Oklahoma

What makes Oklahoma different

Three factors drive most of the specialty claims we handle in the state.

Hail

Storage-Season Damage

Oklahoma hail is among the most destructive in the country, and boats, campers, and collector cars parked outside take it the same as a roof. Comprehensive coverage on the specialty policy is what answers.

Lakes

A Long, Crowded Season

Grand Lake, Tenkiller, Eufaula, and Broken Bow run heavy traffic from spring through fall. Collision and liability exposure on the water is a real and separate thing from anything the home policy covers.

Terrain

Trails, Dunes & Backroads

From the Little Sahara dunes to the Ouachita foothills, Oklahoma off-road use happens away from the insured premises, which is exactly where a homeowners policy stops helping.

Why Harvey Insurance

How we write specialty coverage

These policies reward paying attention to the details.

01

Values Set Before a Loss

Agreed value and stated value are settled when the policy is written, not argued over after a claim. We put the number on paper up front.

02

Off-Season Handled Properly

Most Oklahoma toys spend more months stored than used. We make sure storage-period coverage stays in force rather than lapsing when the season ends.

03

Bundled Where It Helps

Specialty policies frequently discount when written alongside home and auto. We check that math instead of quoting each piece in isolation.

FAQ

Common questions about Oklahoma specialty insurance

Does my homeowners policy cover my boat or ATV?
Only marginally, and not in the ways that matter. Homeowners forms typically cap watercraft coverage at a small dollar figure, exclude larger motors entirely, and offer no liability protection once the item is off your property. An ATV ridden on a trail or a boat on the lake is essentially uninsured under a home policy, which is why separate coverage exists.
Can I put a motorcycle or RV on my auto policy?
No. Personal auto policies define covered vehicles in a way that excludes motorcycles, motorhomes, and off-road vehicles. Each needs its own policy form, and those forms include things an auto policy has no concept of — like vacation liability on an RV or accessory coverage on a bike.
Do I need coverage during the months it is stored?
Yes, and dropping it is a common and expensive mistake in Oklahoma. Hail, wind, fire, and theft do not observe the season, and a hailstorm over a storage lot in April can total a boat that has not been in the water since October. Keeping comprehensive in force through storage costs very little.
Can I write several toys on one policy?
Often, yes — and it usually prices better than separate policies. Many carriers will schedule multiple units together, and writing them alongside your Oklahoma home and auto coverage frequently triggers additional multi-policy discounts. We will show you both structures.

Other coverage we write in Oklahoma

Specialty Insurance is not the only thing we write in Oklahoma. Most households end up combining a few of these, which is usually where the savings turn up.
