RV & Motorhome Insurance

An RV is part vehicle and part home, and a standard auto policy only understands the first half. From weekend trips to Hill Country parks to full-time living on the road, Harvey Insurance writes RV coverage that protects both the rig and everything you carry in it.

Coverage for a Vehicle You Also Live In

Your motorhome rolls down the highway like a vehicle but parks like a second home — with a kitchen, electronics, and everything you packed for the trip. That dual nature is exactly where auto policies fall short: they may cover the collision but ignore the awning, the contents, and the liability of using the RV as a residence at a campsite. Whether you tow a travel trailer a few weekends a year or live in a Class A full time, we write the structure that fits how you use it.

What’s Covered

RV Coverage for the Road and the Campsite

We place RVs with carriers who treat them as their own class of vehicle — so the living quarters, the attachments, and full-time use are all handled, not excluded.

Liability & Physical Damage
Covers a motorhome the way auto coverage covers a car — injury and damage you cause, plus repair or replacement of the RV after a collision — sized to a vehicle that’s far bigger and pricier than a sedan.
Comprehensive Protection
Hail, wind, fire, theft, and animal strikes are a real threat to a parked rig in Texas. Comprehensive covers the damage that happens when you’re nowhere near the road.
Personal Contents & Belongings
The TVs, appliances, tools, and gear inside travel with you — and travel with a policy that replaces them after a covered loss, unlike a bare auto policy that stops at the vehicle.
Full-Timer’s Liability
If the RV is your primary residence, this adds the personal and premises liability a homeowners policy would normally provide — essential coverage full-time RVers can’t get from auto insurance alone.
Attached Accessories
Awnings, satellite dishes, solar panels, and add-ons that make the rig livable are insured against damage and theft — items a standard vehicle policy simply doesn’t recognize.
Total Loss Replacement & Emergency Expense
On a newer RV, a total loss can pay for a comparable new unit rather than a depreciated check, and emergency-expense coverage pays for lodging when a breakdown leaves you without your home on the road.
Across Texas

Every class of rig and trailer

Motorized or towable, weekend or full-time — the RVs we cover across Texas:

Class A / B / C

Motorhomes

Motorized coaches from compact camper vans to 40-foot diesel pushers get liability and physical-damage coverage scaled to the size and value of the rig.

Fifth Wheels & Trailers

Towables

Travel trailers and fifth wheels have no motor, so their coverage centers on physical damage, contents, and the liability of a parked, lived-in unit.

Toy Haulers & Pop-Ups

Haulers & Campers

Toy haulers carrying ATVs and pop-up campers each get written to their mixed use — living space plus the gear or garage they carry inside.

Why Harvey Insurance

Guidance for the long haul

Full-timer or fair-weather camper, the right RV policy looks very different — and getting it wrong is expensive.

01

RV-Specialist Carriers

We work with insurers who write RVs as a dedicated product, so full-timer liability, total-loss replacement, and contents coverage are options on the table — not gaps you discover after a loss.

02

Weekend vs. Full-Time

How you use the rig changes the policy entirely. We separate the occasional camper from the full-time resident and write each so you’re neither underinsured nor paying for coverage you’ll never use.

03

Answers On the Road

A breakdown three states away is stressful enough. You reach the agency that knows your policy and can move on a claim while you’re still parked at the campground.

FAQ

Common questions about RV insurance

Does my auto policy already cover my RV?
For a motorized RV, auto coverage handles the driving-related basics but stops there — it ignores the contents, the attached equipment, and any liability tied to living in the rig. A dedicated RV policy adds the home-like coverages a motorhome needs and an auto policy was never designed to provide.
What is full-timer coverage and do I need it?
If you live in your RV as a primary residence, full-timer coverage adds the personal liability and premises protection a homeowners policy normally gives you — for example, if a guest is injured at your campsite. Weekend travelers don’t need it; full-time RVers almost always do.
Do I need insurance on a travel trailer with no motor?
Texas doesn’t require standalone insurance on a non-motorized trailer, and your tow vehicle’s liability may extend while it’s hitched. But that does nothing for the trailer’s own damage, theft, or contents — a dedicated policy covers the trailer itself, which the tow vehicle’s insurance won’t.
Are the belongings inside my RV covered?
Not by a basic auto policy. We add personal-contents coverage so the electronics, appliances, and gear you carry are replaced after a covered loss — for full-timers this can be a substantial and easily overlooked amount.
What is total loss replacement?
On a qualifying newer RV, total-loss-replacement coverage pays to replace it with a comparable new unit after a total loss, rather than cutting a depreciated check. It protects you from the steep early depreciation that hits RVs especially hard in the first few years.
Does roadside assistance cover a big motorhome?
Standard auto roadside often can’t handle a 40-foot coach. RV-specific roadside and towing is built for the size and weight of a large rig — including the specialized equipment needed to move one — so a breakdown doesn’t leave you stranded with a service that can’t help.
