ATV & Off-Road Insurance

Signing a waiver at the gate protects the park. It does not protect you, your machine, or the person riding behind you. Harvey Insurance covers the part the waiver leaves open.

What the Waiver at the Gate Actually Does

Marble Falls sits next to one of the largest off-road parks in the state, and every rider who goes through the gate signs something on the way in. It is worth understanding what that document is for, because most people assume it is broader than it is. A park waiver is written to protect the park from you. It says that you accept the risk of riding on their terrain and will not pursue them when the terrain does what terrain does. What it does not do is put a single dollar toward repairing your machine, cover an injury to the passenger you brought, or answer for damage you cause to somebody else’s vehicle in a staging area. Those three things are yours to arrange, and a homeowners policy will not do it once the machine is off your property. The riding around here compounds it: granite, ledge and steep pitch, the kind of terrain that breaks driveline and body work as a matter of routine rather than accident, plus a location close enough to Austin and San Antonio that the park fills with visitors who have not ridden it before. We write the machine so that the waiver and the policy cover two different things, which is what they were each designed to do.

What Marble Falls riders plan for

A signed waiver, granite terrain and a park full of first-timers.

What It Does Not Cover
A park waiver protects the park. Your machine, your passenger’s injuries and damage you cause to others sit entirely outside it.
Ledge, Rock and Pitch
Hill Country granite breaks driveline, skid plates and body work as a matter of course. Physical damage written for deliberate obstacle use is a different conversation.
Who Came With You
A passenger injury is the claim that outruns the machine’s value entirely, and it follows the owner rather than the park.
Contact in the Lot
Loading ramps, tight staging and unfamiliar drivers produce low-speed contact with other people’s trucks, trailers and machines.

FAQ

Common Marble Falls ATV insurance questions

I signed a waiver at the park. Do I still need insurance?
Yes, and the two are not substitutes. The waiver is the park’s protection from you — it removes their liability for the risks of riding their terrain. It contributes nothing toward repairing your machine, nothing toward a passenger’s medical bills, and nothing toward damage you cause to another rider or their equipment. Those are exactly the losses an off-road policy is built for.
Is my machine covered for damage on park obstacles?
Under physical damage coverage, and it is worth being specific about how you ride when the policy is written. Deliberate obstacle use on granite is a heavier duty cycle than trail riding, and carriers vary on how they treat it. We would rather match the form to the riding than have the conversation with an adjuster looking at a bent A-arm.
What if I hit somebody’s truck in the staging area?
That is liability coverage on the off-road policy, and it is the most common claim nobody plans for. Ramps, tight parking and people backing trailers produce a steady run of low-speed contact, and a dented tailgate on a new truck is not a trivial number. Your auto policy is not the one that responds when the vehicle at fault is a side-by-side.
Can I add a rider who is not in my household?
Usually, and you should tell us if it happens regularly. Friends who ride with you, an adult child who lives elsewhere, a coworker who comes along on weekends — carriers treat permitted use differently and some restrict it more tightly than owners expect. Naming the people who actually ride is a five-minute conversation that prevents a much longer one.
