We Know Fort Worth

Fort Worth isn’t Dallas, and the housing market reflects that. From 1900s-era homes in the Fairmount historic district to mid-century neighborhoods around TCU to luxury estates west of downtown, the city covers serious ground. Tornado history is part of the conversation here in a way it isn’t in Collin County, alongside the hail that hits all of DFW. We’ve been writing Fort Worth policies for years and we know how the considerations change across the city. Give us a call and we’ll walk through what fits.

Risk Profile

What actually damages homes here

North Texas weather has its own pattern, and it shows up on policies year after year. We’ve been writing through plenty of it.

Spring

Severe Hail & Wind

April through June is peak storm season across the DFW metroplex. Severe thunderstorms, hail, and high wind are common, and Fort Worth sees real damage every spring. We’ve been writing policies through plenty of storm seasons here.

Summer

Heat & UV

Fort Worth summers regularly run 100°F+ for weeks at a time. The heat takes a toll on roofs, exterior paint, and HVAC systems faster than people often realize — worth talking through when you renew.

Year-Round

Water & Plumbing

North Texas freeze events have made the news in recent years, and water damage from sudden cold snaps is a real risk in Fort Worth. We talk through the angles when we write your policy.

FAQ

Common Fort Worth homeowners insurance questions

Why is my wind and hail deductible different from the rest of my policy?
Because carriers separate the peril that drives losses in this region from everything else. Your policy may carry a flat deductible for fire or theft and a percentage of the dwelling limit for wind and hail, which on most Tarrant County homes is a substantially larger number. People discover this at the worst moment, having remembered the small figure from the declarations page.
A roofer offered to cover my deductible. Is that allowed?
No, and it is worth being blunt about it. Texas law prohibits a contractor from paying, waiving, rebating or absorbing your insurance deductible, and an offer to do so is a warning about everything else in the relationship. It also puts the homeowner in an awkward position on a claim. A roofer who leads with that is not the roofer to use.
My carrier inspected the roof and is threatening not to renew. What now?
Read the letter for what it actually asks. Many inspection findings are curable — a repair, a documented replacement, trimming back overhang — and providing evidence within the window keeps the policy in force. If the roof genuinely is at the end of its life, it is better to know now and plan than to be non-renewed and shopping under time pressure with a decline on record.
If I replace the roof myself before filing, does that hurt the claim?
It can, because the adjuster then has nothing to inspect. Emergency measures to prevent further damage are expected and reimbursable, but a full replacement before anyone has seen the damage removes the evidence the claim depends on. Document thoroughly, do what is needed to keep water out, and let the carrier look before the permanent work starts.
